Health workers and patients will be taking to the streets of London this evening (Wednesday 7 September) to defend the National Health Service and urge MPs to vote against the health bill currently before parliament.

London Keep Our NHS Public and the union Unite have called a march from St Thomas’s Hospital across Westminster Bridge to the House of Commons.

Supporters of the health service believe the coalition proposals will lead to privatisation and hospitals run for profit rather than patients.

Unions campaign to save NHS

The government stalled its plans earlier this year after public opposition.

PCS represents workers in the Department of Health and the union opposes cuts and privatisation in the NHS.

Protestors will be assembling on Wednesday 7 September at 6.30 pm outside St Thomas Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 7EH to march on parliament. There will be a rally at the beginning and end of the march – with a candle-lit vigil at 9.30pm.
